Edward L. Doheny (1856-1935) Oil tycoon. Doheny drilled the first successful oil well in the Los Angeles City Oil Field. His success set off a petroleum boom in Southern California, and made him a fortune when, in 1902, he sold his properties. 10 ¼” x 8 ¼ " stock certificates for 83 shares Petroleum Development Company signed as president by Edward L. Doheny, 1900, California. Three revenue stamps affixed at top center of recto and two affixed to verso. Blind embossed company seal. Pen and punch cancelled.
