Description
Thomas Dawes (1731-1809) Patriot. Dawes served as a Massachusetts militia colonel during the American Revolution and afterward assumed prominent positions in Massachusetts's government. His positions included membership and chairmanship of the Massachusetts Governor's Council and representative in both the House and Senate. 6 ½” x 3 ½” autograph note signed, Boston, February 12, 1771 to John Hancock. “…deliver one Chaldron Coal, to Mr. Thomas Aspinwall….” There is a three line docking on the reverse in Hancock’s hand.
