4 pages, 8vo, on Grosvenor Gate stationery, some light creasing or toning. Disraeli writes as leader of the Conservative opposition in the commons during Palmerston's Liberal administration to diplomat George Buckley Matthew: "I hope you aren't going to return to your post at present, & that we may be fortunate enough to induce you to pay us a visit at Hughenden…Some radiant birds, a little while ago, perched at Grosvenor Gate…they must have flown from Guatemala." Grosvenor Gate was Disraeli's London home.
