Description
Open robe of white silk with satin ribbon stripe having a floral brocade in white and metallic silver thread, trimmed in silver lace, having over-the-elbow-length sleeve and train, brocade petticoat having lace hem band at center front, taffeta back and upper side panels with side ties. Shown by Doris Langley Moore in January, 1953 in New York at Abraham & Strauss, a show depicting costumes of Coronation years. New York Times article indicates all the costumes featured, including this dress, were from the collection of the British Royal family. Helen acquired this dress from Doris in 1959 as part of her first purchase from Moore. B-36, W-24, petticoat L 38-41, overall L 51-64. (Breaks and losses to metallic brocade, some tarnish, minor seam separation, petticoat torn in back waist area) very good.
