Description
East Asia, China, Qing Dynasty, ca. 1644 to 1912 CE. A classic Chinese artifact, a blue-on-white porcelain dish with a scene of a dragon surrounded by wind-driven clouds and flames in tondo. Several thin rings of blue pigment are around the body - one just below the rim on both interior and exterior, and one near the low disc foot. The dragon is the most auspicious symbol in Chinese artwork, acting as a symbol of change, strength, and goodness, and an emblem of the power of the Emperor. Size: 5.2" W x 1.2" H (13.2 cm x 3 cm)
