Description
Roman, late Republican to early Imperial period, ca. 1st century BCE to 1st century CE. A bulla, a round amulet for free-born Roman children, depicting a stamped relief fierce leopard springing forward, ready to attack. The leopard was almost always portrayed in this manner by the Romans, and was a popular imported beast to be seen in menageries and, more commonly, in their local colisseum. Size: 1.55" W (3.9 cm); 3.25" H (8.3 cm) on included custom stand.
