Description
Embossed wooden mask with black, red and yellow pigment. It was collected around 1960. The cheeks and forehead are yellow with red lines, so that the face is divided into planes. The long nose is narrow. The ears have a hole to hang a piece of jewelry. The moment at which boys are first introduced in the ancestor and yam cult is partly determined by the harvest time of yam tubers. The yams are decorated after the harvest with masks that are painted polychrome to keep the spirits happy. Sold without stand.
