Description
Native American, southern Arizona, Hohokam culture, Sacaton Red-on-Buff Phase, ca. 900 to 1100 CE. A miniature bowl from the Hohokam Sedentary Period, a time of prosperity, population growth, and craft refinement. This rare non-geometric example depicts five hunched anthropomorphic figures, basket carriers, bringing their heavy loads around the body of the vessel. Size: 2.9" W x 2.25" H (7.4 cm x 5.7 cm)
Provenance: ex private Hagen collection, acquired in the 1940s
