Style of ANTOINE BOUVARD (French 1840 - 1920) Two "Paris Street Scene" Oil on canvas. Each: 13 x 18 inches. Each signed lower right: Bouvard Condition: Both in overall good condition. "Street Scene with Center Tree": when examined under black light there is in painting in the front of the cars and in the lower left corner, the frame is missing a piece of gilt plaster on the top left. "Street Scene with Lamppost": When examined under black light there are areas of in painting throughout, lower left quadrant in the body of the car, in the center of the road and the wheels of the center cars, in the lower right quadrant in the body of the car also evidence of in painting. The building on the right side has evidence of in painting, canvas looks to be partially cleaned, with just the sky being left with yellowed varnish; the signature shows under black light. Neither canvas has been relined and the frames are in overall good condition with wear throughout from being handled and areas of missing gilt, they also have evidence of repairs in the corners especially (mainly visible when examined up close).
