Item Details
Description
**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A near miniature figural terracotta whistle depicting an endearing standing cargador (carrier) with a sack suspended over his shoulders, holding his hands to his head, perhaps to stabilize a tumpline. The details are wonderful. Just look at that expressive wide-eyed countenance, the textured fabric of his bag (suggesting animal skin or stitching), and the striated headband/tumpline and headdress. In addition to being a fun sculptural piece, the whistle works well. Size: 3.125" H (7.9 cm)

Provenance: private Ventura County, California USA collection
