In her autobiography Me, Hepburn writes of her breakthrough role in The Warrior Husband: “My whole family came. They were taking no chances. I had an entrance down a narrow stairway…I had a stag over my shoulder. A tight tunic made of metal links. Beautiful silver leather shin guards showing the leg to a good advantage, and a silver shield and a high silver helmet, and a cape… I was just full of the joy of life and opportunity and a wild desire to be absolutely fascinating” (122—24).
