Description
Gilbert clock is as-found and all original. Spent the last 50 years or so on a top shelf in the estate. Stands 25" tall. Very well-aged dark finish to the pressed oak case which is all complete. It has most of its paper label on the back which reads " Steamer 48"; Wm L. Gilbert Clock Co.; then the 'G' logo and below, "Winstead , Conn., U.S.A." The glass panel on the door is original and depicts 2 birds building a nest. The banjo pendulum is original and when put in place it does swing for about 5/maybe 10 minutes, then stops. The hands look original & move smoothly with the "gong" sounding at hour & half. Also, there is a smaller ringer that when the key is turned it emits a shrill sound. The brass bezel around face has lost some its finish. The paper clock face has loss around Noon.
