Description
Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Phila., PA, circa 1880, ovoid pitcher with footed base, tooled shoulder, and flared rim, decorated around the midsection with three drooping flowers extending from leafy stem. Spout decorated with brushed swags. Collar with a leaf motif on each side. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Spout impressed "2". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, which recently-surfaced in South Carolina. This pitcher survives in difficult-to-find excellent, essentially as-made condition.
