Description
Northern/Eastern Europe, Baltic Vikings/Viking Rus, ca. 10th to 12th century CE. A fine example of a white bronze bracelet, made by bending a thin, rectangular sheet of bronze into an oval form. The exterior face is stamped with cross-forms, with a highly abstract motif of intersecting lines and small circles near the center. The terminals are zoomorphic, with tiny raised bumps that look like ears and snout-shaped endings. Made for a small wrist - perhaps an adolescent woman - and likely buried with her. Size: 2.65" W (6.7 cm)
