Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A tall, free-blown unguentarium (perfume bottle), formed from a stunning blue-green glass with a thick composition. The bell-form body has a slight-concave base with a smooth pontil in the center, and the lengthy neck extends upwards from a grooved neck base, terminating at a folded rim. Faint areas of silvery iridescence grace the exterior. Used to hold sweet-smelling liquids and oils, this is a wonderful utilitarian example from the mighty Roman Empire! Size: 6.25" H (15.9 cm).
