Roman era, Holyland, ca. 1st to 5th century CE. A huge terracotta storage vessel of the type used to hold grains, water, wine, or oil, its massive form presenting a globular body with a ribbed surface, twin loop handles on the shoulders, a cylindrical neck, and a rounded base. Impressive for its scale as well as its elegant silhouette. Custom stand. Size: 14.5" W x 21.5" H (36.8 cm x 54.6 cm); 26.75" H (67.9 cm) on included custom stand.
