Description
A funerary model of a well-head with panels decorated with real and auspicious animal, circa 206 B.C.
Front panel has mythological cat creature with two attendants and animal figures on top
and bottom panels. Reverse panel has a monkey seating on a dragon with two
attendants on sides and animal figures on top and bottom panels. Side panels depicts
numerous animals with lattice decoration. Dimensions: 8-5/8" (22 cm) L x 6-1/4" (16 cm) W x 4-11/16" (12 cm) H Provenance: Ex. Fong Chow collection (formerly curator of the Asian Department - Metropolitan Museum of Art, N.Y.C.)
