Description
Pre-Columbian, Bolivian highlands, Lake Titikaka region, Tihuanaco/Tiwanaku ca. 600 to 800 CE. A lovely handbuilt polychrome bowl with beautifully painted exterior walls featuring what appear to be four abstract butterfly or bow-like forms alternating with curved bands of striated and dot motifs falling from the dotted rim, all in a striking color palette of red, white, and grey-black hues. A lovely example with a relatively unusual form showing curved rather than concave walls. Size: 6.625" in diameter x 3" H (16.8 cm x 7.6 cm)
