Hardcover with black and white plates of room interiors plus many plates of calligraphy with red chop signs, including a 5-panel fold-out at the front. Softcover bound Japanese style, with black and white illustrations of women or courtesans including 5 double-page spreads. 1 set of color plates from the book "Japan A Record in Colour By Mortimer Menpes" in folder with title plate. Plates measure 6 1/8 x 8 3/4 inches, and it appears this is a complete set. 5 offset reproductions of wood block prints, mounted on stiff board, 8 1/4 x 11 1/2 overall size.

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925
