Thailand, ca. 19th century CE. Rare inkstone used to mix dry ink with water for use in calligraphy. In the shape of a Roman oil lamp, carved on the reverse with seated figure holding offering jar with floral decorations throughout, side carved with opposing dragons or serpents, top with rounded central well and twin birds. Quite lovely! Size: 2.75" L x 2" W (7 cm x 5.1 cm)
