Description
Pre-Columbian, Mayan Territories, Maya, Late Classic period, ca. 600 to 900 CE. A stunning pair of carved light green jade ear flares, the verso of each with a protruding tubular rim. Each reverse rim has twin drilled holes for suspension as well. The obverse sides have smooth and naturalistic square-shaped forms, and these flares were likely created for a high-status individual. Size of largest: 1.25" Diameter (3.2 cm).
Provenance: private New York, New York, USA collection; ex-Walter Crawford collection, Arizona, USA, acquired between 1960 and 1970
