Description
Japan, Meiji Period, ca. 19th century, CE. One of the rarest of all Japanese netsuke we have ever seen. Long ivory toggle support in the form of a leaping deer. Deer is almost prone with legs fully extended behind his thin body, antlers running from the back of its head all the way down to his "knees." Signed on the belly just below the twin holes for the cording that it once held. Size: 7.25" L (18.4 cm)
