This exquisite R Capodimonte Italian 29 piece Tea Set with 12 22kt Gold Lined Demitasse Cups & Saucers is in near MINT condition. No loss of color or gold. NO cracks or crazing. This will make a stunning display or a statement piece when used. The tea pot stands 9” tall and 6 ½” handle to spout. The Creamer and Sugar stand 4 ½” tall and the sugar is 5” handle to handle and the creamer is 3 ¾” handle to spout. Cups stand 2” tall and the saucers are 4 5/8” in diameter. A little history: Capo Di Monte collectibles are porcelain pieces that are highly colored and have a strong relief style. The history of Capo Di Monte porcelain collectibles starts with King Ferdinand IV, son of King Charles, who opened his first Capo Di Monte porcelain factory in Naples Italy in 1771. They used the mark of the blue crown N (BCN) to designate their porcelain figurines. When the factory closed in 1834 it was the Ginori family of Doccia Italy who acquired and continued the tradition of Capo Di Monte collectibles bearing the same mark. This second factory was closed in 1896 when Societa Ceramica Richard of Milan Italy took over manufacturing these fine porcelain figures but used a different mark, the mark shows a crest with wreaths under a crown with R. Capodimonte. They still continue to manufacture using this mark to this day. Many pieces were lost during the two world wars and some Europeans come to the United States in search of porcelain figures that survived the war. This is simply one of the best set you will find.
