Description
Watercolor on paper, impressionist scene of river. Signed and attr. Paul Sawyier (American, 1865-1917) on bottom left corner. 12.25 x 18.75 inch (31.1 x 47.6 cm). Sawyier worked mostly in watercolor and is best known for his scenes in the Frankfort, Kentucky area and New York. Sawyier is noted for his impressionist paintings of the Kentucky and Dix rivers.[3] In 1893, Sawyier went to the Chicago's World's Columbian Exposition, where some of his works were in the State of Kentucky display.
