This autobiographical story tells of Muir's early life, from his departure from the University of Wisconsin to his first summer in the Sierra. Muir scholars William and Maymie Kimes note, “Muir’s early writing included in this volume is important in disclosing his nature-oriented philosophy of life and the direction in which it was taking him.” Kimes 339.. Condition: Periodic mild foxing to the contents. The spine is lightly faded, with a bit of scuffing to the spine label and some minor rubbing to the boards; else very good. Item number: 270061
