East Asia, China, Ming, ca. 1368 to 1644 CE. A classic tripod censure, its body adorned with an incised abstract floral pattern, covered with a heavy celadon green glaze. The piece has been professionally fitted with two silver fittings on opposite sections of the rim where there were chips at one point in time. Longquan celadon ceramics were created in kilns located in Lishui prefecture in southwestern Zhejiang Province of southern China and the north of Fujian Province. Longquan celadon production made its presence known in the Song dynasty but continued to flourish for about 500 years including the early Ming dynasty. Size: 5.375" in diameter at widest x 3.5" H (13.7 cm x 8.9 cm)

Condition
Old chips on rim repaired with twin silver overlays that have developed a nice tarnish as shown. Otherwise excellent. Glaze presents attractive craquelure.
