19th century AD. A gilt bronze statuette of the Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara seated on a lotus throne, legs crossed; hair pulled up int a top knot with small figure of Buddha to the front; diadem and large rosette earrings, urna to the centre of the brow; front hands held in prayer holding a jewel; right upper hand holding a rosary, left holding a lotus flower; deer skin cloak over shoulder, strings of beads across the chest. 1.94 kg, 21.5cm (8 1/2"). From the Cheuk family collection; formed in the 1970s.
