Description
A large Egyptian faience head from a figure of Ptah, Late Period, c. 664 - 30 BC, with detailed facial features and wearing an ostrich plume headdress, the top of the back plinth is visible inscribed with a feather and surmounted by a circular disk with a scarab holding a solar disk in relief, radiating lines in the fields around. Dimensions: 2 1/2 in x 1 1/2 in x 1 3/8 in (6.4 x 3.8 x 3.5 cm). A very interesting piece from a large figure of the god Ptah and well-preserved with much blue-green glaze remaining with light deposits. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
