Description
This iconic historical map of New Orleans details the city center, today’s French Quarter. Plenty of detail is offered: government buildings, churches, prison, hospital, monastery, army & navy quarters, canal and quay. The streets are shown include Bourbon St., Chartres St., etc. Eighteen individual buildings are keyed to a list. This became the standard map of New Orleans throughout the eighteenth century. This is a less frequently seen later, 1827 issue, with the initial issues dating from ca. 1744-1764.
