George Lethbridge Saunders (1807-1863) watercolor painting, c.1840 of The Cardsharps, after the 17th century painting by Valentin de Boulogne (1591-1632) c.1614-15. Sight measurement 6.5" x 10". Well framed and matted under glass, 11.75" x 15.25" x 1" deep.
NOTE: Unsigned. Artist identification noted on the reverse. Additional artist identification and history of the painting's descension in the family is noted on a list of Saunder's paintings from 1926 (this painting in the list is misidentified as a work by Murillo. The title is also misidentified as "The Card Players").
PROVENANCE: Consigned by a family descendant of George Lethbridge Saunders.
