Description
This artwork shows the same landscape as Georges Seurat's painting Le Pont de Courbevoie from 1886–1887 in the Courtauld Gallery, London. In contrast to the painting, the human figures are missing, only one boat is on the river and the tree on the right bears leaves. It's bald in the painting. The drawing shows a different season than the painting. The drawing also has a wider format than the painting and the viewer's point of view is slightly further behind that in the painting. “The typical treatment of the material, the fragrant, faded distance and the probable time of the creation of the sheet, as well as the origin from the above-mentioned, first-class cataloged collections, almost certainly indicate that this is a good, handpainted artwork as a study for the painting: "The port of Courbevoie" by the founder of the french Pointillist School Georges SEURAT born 1859 died 1891.
