The son of the esteemed American artist Daniel Rideway Knight, Louis Aston Knight was born in Paris in 1873. He first exhibited his work at the Paris Salon in 1894 and became known for his preferred subjects of pastoral landscapes and houses. In 1927, he became an officer of the Legion d'Honneur, the highest award in France. Aston Knight died in New York City in 1948.
