Description
Miniature painting. Paint and gold on paper. Northern India, Kashmir, 19th cent.
This painting consists of two separate parts. In the upper right-hand corner, Krishna is kneeling and wearing a crown with Radha and multiple saints at his side. In the lower left-hand corner, Krishna appears again, this time standing across from Rama. Both are incarnations of the high god Vishnu. The lower part of the image features Rama along with a group of knights on a hilly terrain. The border areas are floral and have gold. On the right side is a large, decorative tree with two birds.
