Description
Qing dynasty porcelain plaque from the 19th century or earlier. The porcelain plaque depicts a wise, old bearded scholar with a female attendant bearing a fan and kneeling child offering a gift of flowers. The intricately hand painted figures have finely painted hair-thin brushwork detailing individual strands of hair on all the figures. Raised enamel designs are present throughout the scene. The antique Chinese plaque or tile is signed in hand painted traditional Chinese black and iron red characters. In good condition, there are no cracks, chips, damage or repairs. The porcelain is traditionally framed within an old wood frame, finished with a wood backing and has a decorative ornamental iron center hanging piece. Porcelain plaque measures 15.3 inches high x 10 inches wide. Frame measures 23.7 inches x 16 inches.
