Description
1909 1st ed Captain Stormfield’s Visit to Heaven by Mark TWAIN Last Book
“I was never willing to destroy 'Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven.' Now and then, in the past thirty years, I have overhauled my literary stock and transferred some of it to the fire, but 'Stormfield's Visit' always escaped. I am obliged to suspect that the hand of Providence was in it. Secretly & privately I liked it. I couldn't help it.” – Mark Twain on Captain Stormfield’s Visit.
This short novel, the last of Twain’s books published during his lifetime, was printed in the same red cloth that Harper used for many of Twain’s works. This book is Mark Twain’s vision of Heaven and the journey in which is required to get there. Even though this book undermines most Christian views of salvation, it still maintained a popular read. According to BAL, the size of the first printing is unknown, even though three varying sheet sizes exist.
