Description
Two (2) ceramic transferware pitchers. 1st item: Clews Historical Staffordshire blue and white cream pitcher, AMERICA AND INDEPENDENCE, with transferware decoration of Doveridge Hall, flanked by figures emblematic of America and Independence, with banners printed across the rim above for states including Tennessee, Virginia, Delaware, Ohio, Vermont, Kentucky, New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, the Carolinas, Georgia, and New Jersey. 2nd item: 20th century reproduction of 1824 George Washington & General LaFayette Creamware Milk Jug or Cream Pitcher, commemorating the visit of Gen. Lafayette to America with the phrase "Republicans Are Not Ungrateful," attrib. A.E. Gray & Co., Staffordshire (ref. Arman, American Ceramics, page 217-218). 4 1/2"H. Condition
1st item: Overall good condition with some wear and small minor glaze flakes to footring and wear to lip. 2nd item: some crazing and staining.
