Description
18th/19th Century Large Qing Dynasty Chinese White Jade, formed in slightly tapered baluster shape body, raised on splayed foot, the bulbous lower body gently tapered unto the waisted neck supported the dome lid crowned with simply bud finial. Two deer masks emerged from the neck holding a free ring. The exterior decorated with relief of geometrical archaic pattern simulating the Taotie mask of seeing eyes.
The carving is smooth, with pale-creme-celadon iridescent, clean even tone, and moist milky appearance.

PROVENANCE: From New York Estate Sales and Auctions Near The Hudson, 1928. The same collections can be found from Lot-269 through Lot-322.
