**First Time At Auction**
Greece, Western Empire, ca. 3rd century BCE; Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 2nd century BCE. A lovely set of three wheel-thrown terracotta vessels from two distinct periods of ancient Greece. First is a petite Western Empire footed jar with a spherical body, narrow neck, and a collared rim. Next is a large Hellenistic unguent with a slight concave base, piriform body, slender neck, and a rolled rim. Lastly is a rotund lekythos, also from the Hellenistic period, with a small footed base, a piriform body, a tight neck, a flared and upturned rim, and a single applied loop handle. All three vessels are wonderful examples of early Greek pottery craftsmanship! Size of largest (unguent): 6.75" H (17.1 cm).
Provenance: private Carlton collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired between 1965 and 1980

Condition
Unguent repaired from multiple pieces with small losses along crack lines, small chip to rim, and silvery patina along neck. Lekythos repaired from multiple pieces with area of restoration near shoulder, small loss to rim and foot, with abrasions and chips across body. Small jar has minor chips to rim and feet. All vessels have earthen and mineral deposits.
