Description
Title: The Sleeping Beauty and Other Fairy Tales
Publisher: Hodder & Stoughton
Publication Date: 1910
Binding: Hardcover
Book Condition: Near Fine
Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket
Signed: Signed by Illustrator(s)
Edition: Limited Edition
This is number 61 of a limited, 1000-copy Hodder & Stoughton 1910 publication, printed by Constable, with thirty full-page Edmund Dulac color illustrations printed by Henry Stone and Son, of Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch's rendering into English from Old French of The Sleeping Beauty, Blue Beard, Cinderella & Beauty and the Beast (128 numbered pages), signed by Dulac on the limitation page. This copy has been elegantly recovered (app. 10" x 12.5") in quarter leather, a light brown spine with four raised bands, gilt lettering in an applied purple square, gilt and incised decorations to the spine, all of which are in fine condition, as are the marbled boards and leather outside corners. The interior is near fine, with a very few handling smudges, and one shallow tear to a leaf (the top border of the illustration preceding page 26). There are no notable stains, no other tears and no creases. The binding is tight, with no loose or missing pages. The gilt page top edges are dulled, but otherwise in good condition. The art, with all tissue guards in place and flawless, is as new, as is all text. There are no stamps or other attachments. There is no writing, nor are there any notations. The only extraneous elements are a single sheet of paper, loosely laid in, advertising a Dulac exhibition in 1910, and a four-panel promotional piece, also loosely laid in, from Hodder & Stoughton. The above photos are accurate reflections of the book conditions. Bookseller Inventory # 1147
