Description
The beholder comes across a gladiatrix, which was the female counterpart to the male gladiator. Though very rare gladiatrices are attested in archaeology and literature. It was only possible for a woman to fight in a gladiatorial game if she was able to access any form of professional training. She is seen nude except for the sandals she is fastening and the bronze galea armoring her head. She seems to have a calm demeanor and grace as she poses to take on man, beast and death. The handmade bronze sculpture was molded using the ancient method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown color Special patina finish for preservation. It is mounted upon a black marble base and is signed by artist. Condition: This sculpture is in perfect condition.
