A Paludamentum Falls Down His Back, Which Is A Cloak Fastened To The Shoulders Usually Worn By Military Commanders. At His Feet Are Caligae Which Were Heavy-Soled Sandals. His Left Hand Holds A Spear Against The Ground As He Looks Far Off Into The Distance. The Handmade Bronze Sculpture Was Molded Using The Ancient Method Of Lost-Wax Casting And Stained With A Green Patina Finish For Preservation. It Is Mounted Upon A Variegated Black Marble Base With The Artist Dalou'S Signature. Aimé-Jules Dalou (31 December 1838, Paris – 15 April 1902) Was A French Sculptor, Recognized As One Of The Most Brilliant Virtuosos Of Nineteenth-Century France, Admired For His Perceptiveness, Execution, And Unpretentious Realism.
