Description
This is a beautiful sterling silver sugar bowl, made in the Rosebud pattern by Georg Jensen in the 1930s. The shape of the bowl is reminiscent of an oval basket with two spout-like edges on each end. It has a hand hammered finish on the outside and sits suspended from the base by an ornate floral and stem decoration. The handle of the "basket" is finished with two rosebuds on each end where it meets the bowl. This sugar bowl is in excellent condition and would make a great addition to any Jensen collection.
It measures 5" x 4" x 3 3/4" and weighs 196 grams, or 6.3 Troy ounces. The bottom is marked with the "GEORG JENSEN" date mark which indicates it was made in the 1930s, along with "DENMARK," "STERLING," and the pattern number "235B."
With a tradition lasting over a hundred years, Georg Jensen exemplifies quality craftsmanship. Since the company’s founding in Copenhagen in 1904, it has embraced the Art Nouveau style and produced pieces that continue to resonate with design. Exhibited in museums and galleries worldwide, Georg Jensen markings promise beauty and functionality.
