Description
Enoch Wood & Sons (English, Burslem, Staffordshire, 1818-1846). Two pieces of blue and white transferware, including an earthenware charger by Enoch Wood & Sons in the "Gardener" pattern, having a concave floral border and a central scene featuring a boy with a gardener, a pagoda, a cottage, and a vase with flowers, together with a Georgian porcelain saucer by an unknown maker in the "Oriental Couple with Love Birds" pattern, having an alternating floral border and a central scene featuring an ornate pagoda, a flowering pot, a couple with a parasol, and two love birds in flight. Both unmarked. Approximate diameter (Gardener) 10", diameter (Oriental Couple with Love Birds) 7.625". Provenance: Property from the Private Collection of Mrs. Nancy Rutledge Pogue, Blufton, South Carolina (wife of Mr. William Pogue, who served as an heir to the H. & S. Pogue Company department store chain based in Cincinnati, Ohio).
