Description

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built terracotta cream-slip standing figure displaying slightly spread legs with arched feet, wide hips, arms bent and resting on abdomen, rounded shoulders, and a straight back. The face is comprised of a wide brow with a broad headband, thinly slit eyes, a prominent nose, a single pierced ear, and thin, parted lips. A neckband, loincloth, and cross-shaped straps across obverse and reverse sides are delineated in orange-red-hued paint as are both anklets and an earring. Size: 7.25" H (18.4 cm); 7.5" H (19 cm) on included custom stand.
