A large, round, stone cannonball with a fascinating surface covered in pocked encrustation, the result of deposition in a bog or even wetter environment. This type of round shot was made from stone until the 17th century CE. It was made to be fired from a smoothbore cannon to attack fortifications, fire upon ships, and even fire into crowds.
