FREDERICK THEODORE WEBER (AMERICAN, 1883-1956) NEW YORK CITY PRINT, etching on paper, "Gramercy Park, Snow", a crisp winter scene of figures in a park, pencil signed in lower right margin. Matted and housed under glass in an old maple frame. Together with another etching of New York City by the artist, numbered "10/100" and signed lower right in margin, matted and housed under glass in a matching maple frame. Two pieces total. Circa 1930. Each 13 1/4" x 7 3/4" plate, 21 1/4" x 15 1/4" OA.
Each with minor to moderate toning, foxing, and areas of discoloration. Not examined out of frames.
Provenance: From a Virginia private collection.
Catalogue Note: Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Frederick Theodore Weber is most often identified with New York City, the place where he spent the bulk of his career as a painter, etcher, sculpture, and writer. Recognized for his talent as a youth, Weber studied at the Academie Julian in Paris with J. P. Laurens, the Ecole Des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Paul Richir, and with Muller-Schoenfield in Berlin. Exhibiting widely in his day, Weber is often noted for his fine etchings, which capture the mood of his adopted city.
