Description
This early map of Alabama is from Carey & Lea's American Atlas with text surrounding the map on three side of the large folio sheet. County development is on-going, with some counties showing no towns or cities. Indian lands are shown as well, with an area in the western part of the state for the Choctaws and the area to the east split between the Cherokees and Upper Creeks. Roads are shown including Gaines's and Jackson's (future president) Roads. The text details the state's topography, climate, population (almost 128K), history, and other statistical information.
