Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A large red-slip pottery vessel with a wide and flat base. The body takes the form of a human head with two flared pierced ears, puffy cheeks, a prominent nose, coffee-bean-shaped eyes, and thin lips drawn into a faint smile. The tall brow ends at an upturned helmet brim, which then gradually tapers to a wide mouth and rolled rim. While the interior has a natural terracotta beige color, the exterior displays a highly-burnished and russet-hued surface. A lovely example of shaft-tomb culture pottery! Size: 6.625" H (16.8 cm).
