Description
French, Circa 1900, possibly earlier. Each rectangular frame cast with a laurel wreath with bow-tied garlands, with an oval opening, the painted portrait panels indistinctly signed, depicting elegantly dressed ladies in 18th Century attire, with fanciful hats. Frame measuring 111/2" by 8". Plaques 61/2" by 5". (Cond: good, two tone gilt, there is a minor crease in the panel of one, towards the lower right at the signature area, see image, both are signed indistinctly, one oval is coming away from the frame, other loose but intact. Some tears to the velvet fabric and the silk on the back, but the frames are in very good condition ) (400/600) Provenance: Property from The Estate of Fred J. Emmerich, Harrison, NY
