Description
An Ameca Jalisco Figure with Captive c. 200 BC - 200 AD
The thick-limbed figure straddling a smaller figure crawling on all fours, left hand held to top of captive's head, a serrated blade in right hand. Asymmetric facial features set in an inscrutable expression. Brown surface with details in black pigments. In apparently good, intact condition, although the body seems to have been hastily made with rough, uneven surfaces, unlike most Ameca figures, extensive spotting, remains of black roots and other encrustations from underground context, wax props at back of feet.
Provenance:
A Private Collection from Beverly Hills, CA
Height: 18 inches
